Chapter Sisterhood

Why Tri Delta?

When I arrived on Kentucky’s campus 3 years ago, all I knew about sorority life was from my mom, who attended school here 25 years ago. I had heard her stories of Recruitmentand her campus life, but that was the extent of my knowledge. I went into Recruitment with nervousness and excitement, much like everyone else. All my life, I had assumed I would join my mom’s sorority, but then everything changed!

During the recruitment process, I was looking for a chapter that would feel like my family. As the oldest daughter in a family of 5 kids, I’m used to having people around me all the time. I also was a competitive swimmer and soccer player in high school, so I enjoy being around other females in a team type atmosphere. I knew the one thing that would be most important to me in finding a sorority that was right for me was sisterhood.

From the minute I walked into the Delta Shelta, I knew I felt at home. I seemed to click with every girl I talked to, and I met so many people like me. I felt like I could be myself and be accepted by the girls at TriDelt for who I truly was. I looked forward to going back to the Tri Delt house every round and I could only hope that after Preference round it would become my permanent home!

Since Recruitment 2017, my love for my sisters and our house has only grown stronger. I have found my people, the ones who have my back no matter the circumstances.  The bond we all have as Tri Deltas is strong, and I believe it is unique on this campus. We, as Delta Rho, share a bond that is strong and lasting.

As we move into adulthood and leave Lexington behind, I will always be thankful for my sisters and my experiences at Tri Delta. I am so excited to continue to build our sisterhood this year with PC ’20!
